Pandora's gallery in Kreuzberg has re-located to a (MUCH) bigger and brighter space.
I loved the 'old' Pandora: a (literally) underground snug little gallery putting on its fair share of distinct exhibitions and events. The curation of the gallery as I've known it has always had a distinct aesthetic and feel (underground, dark, kinky, punky) and
I always felt that the original gallery space contributed a lot to this.
The new space is a huge upgrade (genuinely 20 times bigger, at least) but its summer collection and opening party showed the feeling of the 'old' Pandora has gone nowhere. The gallerist Guinchi's excellent curation finds the lines between artists' works to bring them together under the casa of Pandora. Expect the same twistedness of the old spot: just with much bigger walls to showcase even more art.
Personal highlights were Camile Theodet (@camille_theodet.art), Patrick Henne (@Patrick.henne.art) and Nick Cocozza (@nickcocozza).
The opening party also included performance artists, DJ and live sets, plus concerts from Petra Flurr and Posezur.
Pandora currently has an open call for experimental artists (music, video, visual arts). Proposals can be sent to art@pandoraberlin.com
